Because Of Ghosts - No More Reason, No More Doubt

I bought this CD just about half an hour ago at the show they just played, I’m so glad I finally caught this band live. What I have sitting in my hands here is a re-issue of an old album, ‘Selected Recordings 2002-2004′.

I’ve had their other album - The Tomorrow We Were Promised Yesterday - […]

Joe’s oyster-moistening falcetto is charming. He busted it out at 303 in Brunswick and I liked it. The mandolin was cute too.

Blue King Brown - St. Kilda Fest, pt.4

We walked through a storm of dirt, sand and grass into the main stage arena, where thousands upon thousands of people had gathered to rock along with this band. I tend to be very picky with reggae/soul/afrobeat bands, but these guys were pure taste.
The whole arena was rocking along as we arrived; the mix […]

Coming […]

Ursa Major - St. Kilda Fest pt.2

These guys were definitely a surprise.
The Push stage is known for hosting great bands with a blazing sound. Myself and Gaz headed over there during the performance of a band called Dirty Mitz - dirty sound, dirty music, dirty vocal. I had first thought that, since this was the second band on this stage, […]

The Sure Shot Hunters - St. Kilda Fest pt.1

It’s never easy being the first band on stage at a festival.
The mix isn’t nailed down yet, so you have to be the guinea pig. People are still wandering around, stall-browsing and eating piping hot stall-food. There is no atmosphere, and thus you have to create it.
The Sure Shot Hunters did exactly that. […]

She Spits Macabre at Glen Waverley Festival

Posted in Live Reviews on Thursday, May 20th, 2004 by jonah | No Comments »

At the recent Glen Waverley Festival (May 2nd), I was sitting over by the car avoiding some pretty damn poppy punk shit with trumpets. The next band to hit the stage was SSM, who I had never heard of. I soon began hearing some very high-pitched “doo be doo be doo’s” which made me piss […]
